About Brand: Wakami was established in 2006 by Kiej de los Bosques, a social enterprise in Guatemala with the mission of generating income in disconnected rural communities. Wakami is a socially conscious brand that designs handmade fashion accessories. The brand represents a rustic, yet urban lifestyle and encourages people to connect with one another - the Earth - their dreams. They aim to enrich the lives of both artisans who create Wakami products and those who buy them, inspiring them to do what they love most. Through their entrepreneurial driven model, artisans are able to empower themselves and become leaders of change in their communities.
Key Pieces: The woven wrap Dream Bracelet was inspired by a dream that we share with the rural communities they work with. In the beginning of each program they ask the people in our groups to draw pictures and explain what they want their lives to be like. We all have a dream.
Why We Love Them: Not only do you get a beautiful bracelet, but the cause is amazing.
Noteworthy: Bracelets made out of waxed polyster thread, and have Zamak metal buttons. They are perfect as everyday bracelets and are great gifts.

"Wear them all the time without ever taking them off. Have had them for about 6 months now. Did a lot of swimming pool time this summer and the bracelets never faded in color (and that's also with two showers a day!).LOVE THEM! LOVE THE CAUSE! Reasonably priced. Even bought the other bracelets for gifts. " (amazon.com/Wakami)
