4 Poses to Prep the Hips for finding flight in Crow Pose
When I teach an arm balance class, I typically hear people comment on how their arms are not strong enough to arm balance, or their core is too weak. But I rarely hear people mention anything about their hips. Well here's the good (and the bad) news - arm strength and core strength definitely play a role in building an arm balance. But the more open your hips are … and the more we prep the hips for poses such as crow pose, flying pigeon, firefly, etc. … the less demanding these poses will be for our arms and core. The arm balances are a true representation of the balance of steadiness and ease, of strength and flexibility in our practice. Here are four poses that will prep your hips for Bakasana, Crow Pose.
5 Creative Ways to Strengthen Your Core
As we head into summer and bikini weather, I get more and more requests in classes for core work. As yogis, we know that there is much more to the core than just the six pack muscle (rectus abdominus) and sit ups. And let's be honest, boat pose and plank can only inspire you for so long. Here are five creative ways to mix things up a bit while strengthening your core.
Yoga practices, styles, and traditions differ variously, which means that there absolutely is something for everyone. As a yoga teacher, when I hear people say that they "can't do yoga" or "hate yoga", I usually back off my "yoga is the coconut oil of exercise" podium, and simply (usually quietly) say, "you haven't found the right yoga.... yet". This also rings true for your yoga leggings. You'd be surprised how wearing the wrong yoga clothing can disrupt your practice. Think about swimming in a t-shirt, this is the equivalent of wearing cotton blends to a hot yoga class. It is possible, but it definitely isn't as much fun.To help you figure it all out we put together a beginner's guide to the best leggings for your yoga specific practice!

We chose this particular version of the yoga wheel to sell on our site because it's made right here in the USA, and featuring inspiring quotes from Rumi, Buddha, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and BKS Iyengar, as well as cool graphics that we haven't seen on any other version. We put together a guide to inspire you to implement this cool yoga prop into your practice.

Please contact your physician before starting any new exercise routine, especially when the neck and spine are concerned.
Building a Bridge to Bridge Pose:
Sit on the floor with the wheel at the base of the spine and knees bent using your hands to support yourself as you lean back begin to lift your hips up off the ground and allow the spine to lay over the center of the wheel. From here you can use the wheel to roll up and down the vertabrae of the spine. To expand further into this stretch you can lift your arms over head and work towards grabbing the wheel behind the head. Hold this pose for 5-10 breaths. To exit the pose, roll back into a seated position and slowly bring yourself back upright.

"THROW IT OVER" Tops!
Fall is officially here, and this can mean cool mornings, warm afternoons, and chilly nights. All this tempeture flucuation can only mean one thing.. IT'S LAYERING SEASON! It is always hard to say goodbye to our summer wardrobes, but by this time of the year we've start to crave the return of scarves, beanies, cable knit socks, and tall boots. However, our favorite go-to items for the fall are always henleys, and pullovers. All perfect for laying under jackets and over our tanks. Light enough to layer without feeling bogged down, and totally perfect to throw in your bag or around your waist should the sun burn off the morning cloud layer.
In addition to Spiritual Gangster, our steady constant go-to for pullovers, we've added Project Social T to the site. This line of inspired layering pieces hails from the LA Art's District and is a total must have for this Fall.
These light layers are perfect to throw over a cami or bra top or under a heavier hoodie or jacket. We love the breezy versatility of this essential layering piece. We love the super soft feel of these tops and the adjustable sleeves to find your perfect length no matter rain or shine.Expand
It’s that time of year again! As a small independant company ran by strong amazing women who pride themselves on supporting each other and their community of amazing customers, we can’t help but well up with pride for the fact that all of this is made possible because we live in a pretty rad country! So, next weekend as we celebrate the birthday of our beloved country we wanted to bring to you a made in the USA guide! We love American made products and carrying a huge selection of these companies is a big deal for us!
Having managed customer support at Evolve for almost two years now, I’ve had the joy and entertainment of chatting with some amazing people from all across this globe. We strive to have an awesome, high quality, curated selection of activewear to fit all styles, ages, and body types.
However, there is nothing that makes me feel quite so helpless with my customers than the lack of size inclusion in the yoga clothing business. We do our best, but if you are not a size 10 or smaller you might know about the struggle to find decent quality workout gear that will allow you to look and feel good. Even as I’m writing this I struggle to find images to fit this blog mostly because they are really hard to find, and partially because I don’t want to offend anyone by pulling images that are directed at calling someone out for their body size. If you have any suggestions for going about this, I’m totally open to start that dialog.
I did, however, want to take this space to tell you about some of our amazing brands that we carry that do fit beyond size 10. I also would love for you to email me your favorite plus-sized brands that you’ve come across!
